Her fist closed tighter around the little candy she was holding, and she bit her lip to stifle her groan. The dark haired girl could hear the other trainer from a mile away. The abandon with which he trudged around, the crunch of the moist ground under him... The rustle of the grass as he swung for another step... She wanted to curse, but more noise wasn't going to aid her cause. He's definitely going to scare it away! she thought, her eyes darting from the rather oblivious Phanpy to the boy that had come into view. No? she thought, her eyes wide and brows raised with surprise, as the silly blue Pokemon lingered, still blissfully unaware.

She assessed the fellow trainer's appearance, the casual ease of his stride, the floppy nature of his sleek black hair... As he neared, she scrutinised his face, her eyes settling on his violet ones, but of course, the gaze wasn't returned, since he'd caught a glimpse of the Pokemon instead. Zan had a sinking feeling that she'd be forced to intervene on whatever transpired. But his approach changed, like liquid, poured into a different container, he naturally assumed a quieter, slinkier demeanour. She continued observing, feeling like a predator preying on a preying prey... From the look of things, this still seemed to be heading south, which was confirmed when his fingers closed around a Pokeball.

The confining sphere was relinquished, it grew in size and a Chimchar was released, a command was issued and executed so swiftly, Zaniah had barely formed cautionary words in her mouth. The girl looked at the procession a bit frozen, in a state of shock. While she'd heard about such cruelty, inflicted in enslave Pokemon, she'd never actually witnessed it. To be fair, the girl had been warned, on her the ferry from Doveport to the Genos captured area, that the trainers there had a tendency to flourish their powerful and brutally tamed beasts over other helpless creatures, effectively condemning the victim to fearful servitude as well. She didn't believe it, and her small darker curiosities, just compelled her to carry on... Now here she sat, paralysed, her qualms confirmed.

She visibly cringed and winced at the growl that escaped the scratched wild Panphy, which thawed her out. 'You!' she exclaimed, 'Stop! You, cruel cruel man!' she added, accusatively, as she scuffled out from behind a large rock. Instinctively, she stepped in between the of the tamed and wild Pokemon. 'Don't you see you're hurting it, i-it was just sitting there, all... quiet and happy and you - you just like went and like shattered its sense of s-security!' she slurred on, her vexation piling onto each syllable, perhaps causing some to break and make her stutter. 'Who the hell gave you the right to do that?' she asked, giving him a sustained, unflinching glare. Her knuckles almost whitening as her fingers curled further in, causing the wrapper to comically punctuate her seemingly intimidating words, with a crackle. Oro, who up until now was curled right behind Zaniah, had now trotted its way beside her, as though in solidarity with his friend.
