The previous night was extremely eventful, to put it mildly. Zaurack had snuck out of the hostel room, attempted climbing Mount Gelido, and had to back down before he could even cross a kilometre thanks to all the formidable Pokemon on the way. But, it wasn’t for nothing; he did manage to catch a Mawile and Meditite, whom he named Arya and Podrick after the characters in his favourite novel.

Unfortunately, however, on his way back from the Pokemon Center after his little trip, he bumped into his Professor. And he was not happy at all with this unapproved tour. He strongly condemned Zaurack’s actions by sending him into the underground cave as detention. “You want solo adventures so much? Then, so be it. The rest of us will be touring the Ebur Expedition late tomorrow afternoon. I want you to clear the path and light it up while we go visit the Azmarin Gym in the morning,” he had said.

So, the next morning, while everyone else went towards the extravagant gym building, Zaurack dragged himself towards the underground cave, with Arya by his side. He didn’t really fear going into a dark cave alone; he was mostly sad that he wouldn’t be able to admire the gym and meet its leader. Once he entered the cave, he began lighting the torches lined up along the two sides of the path, while keeping a lookout for any aggressive Pokemon. At one point, he thought he saw something move into and out of the wall; however, he wasn’t sure if it was real or if he was seeing things because of the terrible lighting.
